Saturday, March 4, 2023 - Opened and decanted. Ruby core, faded outer third. Killer scents of menthol, smoke, and soil. Medium weight, fabulous feel of silk and underlying soil. Slightly tart red and black fruit, outstanding, integrated acidity, ground coffee, real minerality, and some remaining furry tannins which begin to clench up after 2 hours of air. Here the fruit supports the savory elements rather than the other way around. Profound yet supremely elegant, refined Syrah. Taut but hardly austere. Will hold for another decade.
