  • Double decanted for 3 hours before we started drinking it, and it was consumed over a long 5 hours. Pristine cork. On the nose and palate there is bright red and black Syrah fruit, pepper and other spices, herbaceous earthy flavours, and some floral notes. A touch of game too. For the first hour or so this was fairly tight but opened nicely over the following 5 hours. It’s initially very silky across the palate until the very grippy and powdery tannins kick in. Very long. A classy effort that is both an intellectual wine and one that is lovely to taste.

  • Surprisingly closed and tannic for a cote blonde, this vintage is not yet ready to drink at age of 19 and will still require 10 more tears to integrate this concentrated but sturdingly closed wine!!

  • 1/3, vg cork. Decanted then served.
Medium/deep ruby/garnet core, pale ruby rim. Nose shows pure purple fruits, black pepper, florals. Lovely purity. Medium bodied, dark fuited, black pepper, meaty notes, some savour, quite mouth-filling actually but still with a firm undelrying tannic backbone, frsh acids, very good length slightly grippy finish. Excellent - will still probably improve.

  • Opened and decanted. Ruby core, faded outer third. Killer scents of menthol, smoke, and soil. Medium weight, fabulous feel of silk and underlying soil. Slightly tart red and black fruit, outstanding, integrated acidity, ground coffee, real minerality, and some remaining furry tannins which begin to clench up after 2 hours of air. Here the fruit supports the savory elements rather than the other way around. Profound yet supremely elegant, refined Syrah. Taut but hardly austere. Will hold for another decade.

  • Perfectly mature and in a really really nice spot. So delicate, so seductive. Could drink this every day forever and never get bored.
