Tuesday, December 29, 2015 - Big cab dinner at Morton's - 07 Maybach, Ovid, Insignia and etc. (Morton's - Reston, VA): The degree of roast/toffee/madeira expression varies a bit in this wine, ie this bottle displays a bit of substance like oxidative note. More yellow/orange fruits than usual, peach cobbler, plum sauce, marzipan, macadamia and mineral. Sweet, sour and tart, sweet yellow fruit driven palate impression, bright acidity and long sweet and sour finish. A bit more mature example. Quite enjoyable.

Apart from the vagaries of vintage variability, I have begun to focus on drinking bottles that were disgorged around, say, 3 to 5 years earlier. Beyond that, I find that the oxidative notes can be too much for my taste.
