Friday, June 10, 2016 - This is a combined note about Selosse Initial and Roederer Christal 2004. My previous note from June 2015 about the Selosse Initial was extremely enthusiastic. This evening I tasted/drank it again beside the Roederer Cristal 2004 and it was a different experience. The Selosse with beautiful almonds, marzipan and oxidized impressions. Really beautiful and great expression with some rustic flavors, beautiful acidity, minerals and great complexity. The Roederer Cristal shows a more tight and focused citrus constitution, and has a very rich bouquet with luxurious oak. On the palate tight citrus, some nuts, full bodied, but also elegant and refined. Both wines are truly great, but this evening I preferred the Cristal. Initial: 92, Cristal 95 – 96
