Wednesday, March 1, 2017 - Dinner with Zachys crew (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Paraphrasing Forrest Gump’s momma, “Initial is like a box of chocolate”. Even from the same batch, the expression varies significantly, i.e. some quite fresh and energetic, others at the peak and perfectly ready. One of the more “yellow/natural wine” expressions. Decadent ripe yellow fruit, a hint of red berries, OJ, sour apple, a hint of red currant, peach, cinnamon and brown sugar. Perfectly mature palate expression, once again very natural wine like feel, ripe yellow and red fruit driven palate impression, fine mousse, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, and a love long sweet finish. Drinking wonderfully. I didn’t check the disgorgement date but younger than 2014. Really delicious like a twenty year old Krug MV.
