Sunday, August 5, 2018 - Yellow-soft golden color with some murkiness. Minerality on bouquet (some flint?) with distant hint of orange peel and honey. Nice earthy undertones with brioche. There is walnut in there and a hint of flower blossom, perhaps linden. Tiny, well distributed bubbles. Highly complex on palate, with a tiny bit of sherry, good oxidation, pastry, with some orange essence, meyer lemon, and pear or apple in there. Stays long on the tongue. This was my first Selosse; its level of complexity, balance and amazing craft left me nothing less than in awe. I tried to engage in polite conversation, yet, unable to do so, as I was totally absorbed by this wonderful creature that I had just met: sniffing, sipping, savoring; this is a wine worth the expense and demanding of appreciation.
