90 Points

Monday, December 26, 2022 - Opened for two hours before serving with leg of lamb, Brussels sprouts, and potatoes. I had purchased this a couple of years ago and waited patiently, although honestly it could go a lot longer.

Very dark and concentrated in appearance. Nose was a bit tight at first, but eventually opened to quite a bit of earth and spice. Palate is an interesting compromise. Not the exuberant fruit and slice one would expect from younger Grenache-driven Cotes-du-Rhône nor the intense dry minerality of Grenache from Chateauneuf du Pape or Priorat. Those elements are all there - blackberries and cassis, pepper and allspice, loam and tar - but nothing really sticks out more than anything else. The overall effect, however, is a wine with real power. This is not subtle stuff.
