Saturday, January 27, 2024 - Brief note written from memory. Under screwcap. Perhaps bottle variation, but this bottle seemed a little advanced and a touch funky (not in a good way) and unhygenic. Having said that, in its earthy, dried herbs and savoury, slightly rusty style, with dried and fresh red berries and cherries, it wasn't without charm. Interesting and fully accessible. With bright acidity, it paired well with food. At year 8, it should be cruising but, on this evidence, I'd be drinking in the next few years.

Last vintage by Mike Weersing, if I recall. (Met him in Manhattan when I was much younger...such a great palate.) RIP, my friend.
