Friday, December 3, 2010 - What a wonderful Rioja for the price. Great aromas of dried cherries, oak, raspberries, spice, leather and dill. Still very much alive on the palate with firm acidity, smooth mouthfeel and a surprising amount of tannin considering the age. Very well balanced on the palate also, which lead into a long, dry, fruity finish. I would drink this now, but also over the next couple of years if stored properly. This shows the strength of a strong 2001 vintage in the Rioja.
