Monday, May 24, 2010 - Single-Blind Cabernet Tasting @ Urbana (Washington, D.C.): bright purple in the glass. the nose is bright and explosive, so much livelier than the other wines. pure, fresh berries, purple skittles, and vanilla coke from a 50s-style soda pop shop on the nose. massive on the palate, but not jammy or offensive. this cab is as explosive as it gets. what is amazing about this wine is its freshness and acidity. the balance is phenomenal. raisenets on the palate, cherry liquer, rasberries and dark chocolate. a very long finish. i popped this right before the tasting, and i now wish i would've opened it like six hours earlier. it's got a ton of potential.
