Wednesday, April 8, 2015 - Northern Rhone tasting (London): A very disappointing bottle (from my cellar, so I can't blame the storage conditions). I don't think the bottle was flawed in any technical way. The wine hasn't developed well since I last checked in -- the fruit is fading and there's beginning to be a very slight green, stemmy streak. It's still an interesting wine that's more on minerals and earth, but not showing any of the interesting Cote Rotie funk or meatiness, or the aromatic complexity that Jamet is capable of. To be fair, this wine suffered by comparison to some very big, ripe, open competitors. I'm going to check in in a year again and see if it was a bottle issue, or if the wine is on the decline, but if I had to judge by this bottle, I'd be worried about the potential.
