Thursday, December 15, 2016 - Dinner with Paolo at Bar Italia NYC, great spot for pasta and corkage friendly...splash decanted and drank over an hour.

From prior notes: "Bright, deep ruby red color, still youthful and vibrant, no bricking. Nose was big right out of the bottle and continued to evolve. Nose of dark fruits, oak, toast. Palate of black fruits, dark cherry, licorice There is a "sweetness" in the mid palate that's unique. Layered and long finish..." Soft Bdx nose with this bottle I picked up more earth notes, truffles and mushroom on the nose. Rich fruit forward profile

Great to revisit this, last tasting from a couple years ago, this is still incredibly youthful. If tasted blind I may have guess it was less than 10 years old...this really opened up after about 20-30 minutes, I would give it a decant on next bottle.

Really great, I think right in its zone. Has held together much better than most of the 97 Napa wines. Will last for a while (IMO) but I don't think it improves much more. Very well made wine from Pahlmeyer, aged beautifully and drinking well
