Monday, April 10, 2023 - This pours light ruby in the glass a touch of pink at the watery rim. The nose is immediately expressive and classically burgundy. The nose wafts fresh red cherry, peonies, touches of grapefruit pith, twigs, dry rocky soil, sweet cedar shavings, sandalwood, cardamom, pomegranate, and a nascent soil/mushroom element. The palate is silky with fleshy dark cherry on the mid palate, turning to medium plus acid, and medium minus tannin that shows a touch of youthful astringency. The finish is moderate in length displaying much of the nose. All in all this is developing quite nicely but I think another decade or more will help the wine come fully around more fully. Not criminal to drink a bottle now, but for my palate I'd let these rest a while longer.
