Wednesday, December 15, 2021 - This is a pretty good example of how it's possible to make rich, ripe Bordeaux and do it right. From the pop of the cork it features opulent fruit that just screams merlot and might give you a few flashback moments to those pre-Sideways days when everyone was drinking merlot, everywhere, all the time. There was an element of sur-maturite to it but not in a sweet or jammy sense, just a twist of dried fruit in the mix, and this dissipates with breathing time anyway. There is some lightly cedary wood but no toast scorching this and definitely no coffee or anything like that. Over the course of the night it slims up its figure - it still has that opulent fruit, but now the coloring is more clearly within the lines - and the texture turns nicely silky.
