Popped and poured. Probably should not have opened this. It is only one day removed from a trip in my suitcase from Europe, so it could be suffering bottle shock, or maybe it has just gone into a dumb phase. Either way, it doesn't resemble the wine others have tasted and reported on CT. This is extremely feminine, silky-smooth, vanillin and mineral, even ethereal. But there is little in the way of fruit or guts or body. Just hints of chocolate/cocoa in the mouth, and a slightly bitter finish. Wish I'd have waited. Judgment reserved.
Next day: More advanced and with greater depth. Still on the light side, more depth, richer, still a bit of a disappointment when I compare to the glorious '89. 5-12-16-8: 91/100.

This is a pretty good example of how it's possible to make rich, ripe Bordeaux and do it right. From the pop of the cork it features opulent fruit that just screams merlot and might give you a few flashback moments to those pre-Sideways days when everyone was drinking merlot, everywhere, all the time. There was an element of sur-maturite to it but not in a sweet or jammy sense, just a twist of dried fruit in the mix, and this dissipates with breathing time anyway. There is some lightly cedary wood but no toast scorching this and definitely no coffee or anything like that. Over the course of the night it slims up its figure - it still has that opulent fruit, but now the coloring is more clearly within the lines - and the texture turns nicely silky.

Superbe nez de cerise rouge et noire mûre, un côté lactique, cacao... Très très soyeux, fruits rouges mûrs et rotis

The 2018 UGCB tasting Amsterdam; comparable to the Cap du Mooulin, however without the hint of kirsch, but the aftertaste is a tad less compact.
