Sunday, April 19, 2020 - Quarantine; 3/12/2020-5/29/2020 (Chicago, IL): #24-19, 7% abv. From half-bottle. There is something always incredibly exuberant about drinking a hyper-young high-Prädikat wine. The sweetness is so fresh and bright, and coupled with the crazy raw acids of youth, you get this electric excitement. This is no exception. This is a relatively lighter edition here, with fruit that is more on the tart side, and while this is sweet, there is certainly a bit of a greenish acid streak on the back end. Very nicely balanced, but oddly enough this edition feels a little more Mosel than usual, with those green fruit elements and a firmer backbone. Nonetheless, outstanding concentration and complexity (as always). It's been a long while since I've had this wine on release, so this was a real treat. The heightened sensation of acid here will give this wine a little extra capacity for aging is my guess.
