Sunday, October 26, 2008 - Very dark, dusty purple. Huge nose of cherry/blueberry syrup, black pepper. Very pretty and attractive, but also one-dimensional to me. Huge body, well-integrated tannins, average acidity. Very easy to find the Cabernet influence that lends more backbone and leather to the sweet syrah. This does not reach fruit-bomb status imb, which is nice from MD. Really, really tasty and great balance but not very complex. Finish has great harmony but is shorter than I want, considering the wonderful flavor that came before. Took out to dinner and matched with a Tuscan rib-eye and filet mignon stroganoff - superb! (4+13+18+6) = 91
