Thursday, July 14, 2011 - Warm red fruits on the nose - redcurrants, plums and loganberries - up front, with (pleasingly) some spice and mineral underneath. Fresh and forward without at all being over-ripe. Follows through onto palate, along with a little green stalkyness/under-ripness - in the context a good thing, adding structure and interest, although also a jarring astringency to the acid, which renders it funky rather than fresh. Overall, well judged and fine for an odd glass with food, but the poor quality of the acid on the finish detracts heavily from the whole. I wonder whether it was acidified or natural? 86
