Saturday, March 29, 2014 - At home before going out for dinner, celebrating 20th anniversary, wanted to open something unusual.
Consistent with prior notes, if you drank this wine blind you would never guess it was a 14 year old Calif Chardonnay. Deep gold color, was getting lemon zest, oak and petrol when first opened. Evolved into a more complex caramel and maple. Palate is rich with butterscotch, caramel, pears, orange/tangerine, honey and toasted oak. Full bodied, medium/long finish. Gorgeous wine, testament to great wine making at Newton. My last bottle but this will drink well for another 3+ years.
