Friday, February 18, 2022 - This wine is in a beautiful place right now; initial blast of clean saline sea air greets at first with lemon and tart apple nose with just hints of oak; really nice palate raises thoughts of a phrase almost unique to reds - “iron fist in a velvet glove”. Mouthfeel and initial impression are round, velvety and full of appealing fruit, beeswax and glycerin. But mid palate lands sensation of gravelly and fruit dry extract, a pop of acidity and a huge, long finish of really appealing balance so well blended that it’s usually found in the best GCs. This is excellent and should be at peak in 7-10 years. 93+
