89 Points

Friday, July 8, 2016 - Deep garnet to black. Nose of boysenberry, bkackberry, tar, and nutmeg. The palate is black and blue fruit, pleasant tart edges, slightly singed. The finish shws off the tannins, powerful but not rough, and the last hint of sweet fruit. I chose this wine to accompany chimmichuri flatiron steak, so its concentration is appropriate. Reminiscent of old-fashioned California PS, I believe this is a very good wine but the style is still not my favorite. Best a little chilled.
