Tuesday, September 13, 2011 - Day 1: Decanted for about 40 minutes to accompany a meal of slow-cooked pork loin and braised collards. Classic big cab fruit nose, still tasting cherry and cassis but an overripe plum note and weak tannins suggest that it's over the hill. One more bottle left and I should drink it ASAP. 83 points
Day 2: Had with pasta and tomato/onion/sausage pasta then later with Bellweather's Carmody cheese. Much improved. Deeper, more supple fruit and mid-palate with velvety tannins. Maturing into a really nice wine. Will hold the last bottle for another year and will decant long. 86 points
