Briefly decanted and served with pear steak and gousse d'ail steaks, napa cabbage and fried oyster mushrooms. Served in parallel with Heitz 2002 Cab. At first it was very tight and sour, but opened by the end of the meal to an enjoyable, somewhat acidic sweet cab without much complexity. Considering how keen I was on this wine a few years ago, I wonder what happened--- did the charms fade with time or has my palate steered away from wines of this type? Drink now if you have any left.

Day 1: Decanted for about 40 minutes to accompany a meal of slow-cooked pork loin and braised collards. Classic big cab fruit nose, still tasting cherry and cassis but an overripe plum note and weak tannins suggest that it's over the hill. One more bottle left and I should drink it ASAP. 83 points Day 2: Had with pasta and tomato/onion/sausage pasta then later with Bellweather's Carmody cheese. Much improved. Deeper, more supple fruit and mid-palate with velvety tannins. Maturing into a really nice wine. Will hold the last bottle for another year and will decant long. 86 points

cassis, red currants blended with intergrated into the oak now. Doesn't feel like wood chip shavings from a couple of years back. Has a fair amount of tannins to withstand at least another two years. May still have another run

Either it was the bottle or the fruit is definitely starting to fall off of this one. Still nice, but more mineral aspects than I recall from previous bottles.

quite delicious with great dark fruit and cassis. The nose was rich and full and the tannins were evident but not overwhelming. Wonderful bottle of wine!

A lot (Napa terroir) went into this wine. Big complex nose. It's still a bit on the astere side, as the tannins have not fully integrated and settled in for the long haul. Deep and slightly sour dark cherry flavors. Long finish.

Drank it with Angela at the Salt House. Very fruity, almost gamey with herbal flavors. Didn't pair particularly well with the rich braised lamb shanks. A better wine for steak.

This wine is really more approachable on day two which suggested more bottle aging is necessary. Lush boysenberry fruit, cedar, with not-so-soft tannins. Leave in the cellar for a few more years.

Although it was sold out at Costco, Cameron and his lovely sister generously mailed me half a case. A huge, fruit and herb nose on opening. Initially, the flavor was tight and concentrated in the forepalate, but in about an hour it opened up— elegant, excellently balanced fruit and tannin, redolent of cherry and gentle oak. A delicious fruity kick on the finish. A superb wine, my favorite since the Lot 8 pinot.

Medium-to-dark garnet color (edges shows the 5 year aging) and distinct cassis Cabernet fruit on the nose. Nose opens big after an hour out of the bottle. Being a 2002 Napa, this wine is more balanced than prior Cabernet CH lots. Very lush, sensuous, and pleasant drinking by itself without food. CH's statement of, "cellar-worthy for 5-7 years" seems correct. It will be interesting to drink this wine in 5 more years if anyone can wait that long. :-)

Wow, what a bargain, this is perhaps Camerons best effort to date. Deep garnet color, licorice, rose petals, watermelon, and in my opinion ready to drink right now.. Looks freshly bottled/corked which leads me to believe that it may even get better in 30-60 days, this wine is as good at lot 16 and 7 with lighter tannic. Bravo!

Either this is in a weird place, or the fruit is fading quickly.

Found a hidden bottle. 7 years on this bottle made for great drinking. Would be wonderful if all $16 Cabs were this quality.
