Saturday, April 1, 2023 - Tasted at Summa 2023 (Margreid, South Tyrol). Not included in last years vertical tasting at Summa 2022 I was very happy to try the 2016 this time, as it turned out to be even better than the 2013, which was my favourite of last year. Like this vintage the 2016 is more red- than blackfruited, however, it is more powerful IIRC and overall its intensity, freshness and tannic structure are downright explosive. Add the aromatic complexity of the variety with its stemmy notes à la Cabernet Franc and you have a wine, which came out first among stiff competition like La Mondotte 2015 and Monteverro 2016. I rarely buy wines in this price-range but in this case I had to.
