Saturday, November 25, 2023 - Crazy good. Wine Spectator was spot on with their 95 rating. Carlisle continues to produce the best Zin. "Polished" and complex rather than a fruit bomb, and without the pepper and usual over hipness of many Zins. Opened a half hour before guests arrived and then another hours before paring with the braised short ribs. Perfect combination...better pairing than the Venge Bone Ash (always one of my favorites) and the other two couples agreed as well. Can see where folks who expect the big ripe fruit would find this lacking but I thought it excellent.
