Monday, February 8, 2021 - 15.0% abv. Dark garnet color, clear. This wine was challenging for me compared to other Auberts (I have whites and reds going back 7 years). It came off as too acidic, which may bode well for a very long and interesting life, but today I recommend decant for several hours, perhaps even a day. I drank a glass on pnp and left bottle in cellar for 24 hours and it was still quite tight. Hiding beneath that acid and tannins were some tremendous spicy, earthy, red fruited flavors. This wine also lacked (in a good way) that cola profile which seems all too prevalent in CA pinots these days. Will sit on the remaining bottles for another 5 years.
