Wednesday, March 29, 2023 - First of 4 bottles. Pretty big and bold, don’t go here for a nuanced, elegant white St Joseph. 50% new oak, 50% 2nd year oak, which shows but in a way that seems to fit the wine. Medium golden. Ripe, toast oak, some phenolic bitterness, macadamia, hazelnut, lime, pineapple, grilled pear (not something I have readily available in my aroma description, but borrowed from James Suckling because it is pretty spot on). It improved with time, day 3-4 at best; less bitterness, more flint, match stick. Medium- acidity, banana on the palate, long finish. 91-92+
