Saturday, April 6, 2013 - Initially the Oak was overwhelming with too many weedy and green brussel sprouts. After a couple hours the wine settled in and the fruit began to come through. Some strawberry notes behind the blackberries, but this is clearly not one of Pahlmeyer's best vintages. 2000 was a tough year for many in Napa and this wine lacks the depth of fruit, the spice and the layering that I enjoy in the better vintages. A very good wine, but even at $45 at auction, I'll pass over this vintage.
