Wednesday, March 20, 2024 - New one for me, Nebbiolo's unruly parent!
Reeks of wild morello cherries, dark red roses, tobacco, mushrooms and forest undergrowth. Plenty of fresh acid and structured, focused tannins (like fine Italian leather), rich, sharp cherries (soaked in lapsang souchong tea?), wild hedgerow blackberries and ripe wild strawberries. Double decanted 3 hours before drinking and still a bit 'edgy'. This is powerful stuff, 8 years old and so youthful - needs rich food to tame it! Went well duck confit, but not risotto milanese
