2018 Bread & Butter Pinot Noir

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

79 Points

Monday, October 4, 2021 - Appearance: Extremely light, almost entirely transparant. Medium-plus fast legs, like 13.5% by volume. A very slow transition towards the rim. Rim is light and pink.

Nose: Strong cherries and roses. Beautiful nose with quince and typical new world notes. Slight oak to it, but very hard to distinguish any specific tertiary notes. The nose reminds me of something sweet like port or sherry, but even sweeter.

Palate: Dry, light-body, notes of fruit and some earthiness. The balance of the wine is a bit off, not ruined or bad, but could be better. The acidity was a little too strong. There is also a little bit of a smokiness to the wine.

Overall: 79 pointer. Oak is very difficult to distinguish but it is there. So I can't really say it was one-dimensional but it's close. The slight imbalance takes away from it too, but it was quite enjoyable overall. Esspecially at 12 CAD a bottle.
