Sunday, August 26, 2018 - Mid+ garnet mahogany to a bricking rim. A wonderful lifted bouquet filled with liquorice, mint, fenugreek, camphor and sweet garrigue (if there is such a thing!). It continues with undergrowth, dried orange peel and armfuls of lavender.
The entry is cooled by dried herbs, strong menthol, camphor (Vicks rub), and black pepper.
This contrast wonderfully with the firm sinewy texture and mid-palate where cumin meets a dry black toffee(!) and red fruits, wrapped in a layer of leather dryness and liquorice threads. The wine slowly unwinds, revealing brown spices, wild raspberry sprinkled with black pepper, more camphor and a fresh acidity knitting the whole wine together.
This is a classy wine and one of the top CNP I have ever had. The wine is persistent and elegant with excellent concentration, tremendous depth and layered.
