Monday, July 6, 2009 - Showing a beautiful deep, vibrant purple color in the glass, this is a stunning Grenache with just a touch of Syrah thrown in. The aromas begin with bright cherry and raspberry fruit, licorice and floral notes then morph over hours into a deep, heady nose filled with musky spice box, darker fruits, a tinge of funk and strong meaty scents reminiscent of a smoked, buttery ham. The purity and intensity of the nose is truly compelling. The palate is filled initially with huge bright fruit, minerals and spice with a luscious, exhilarating texture. Everything is in proportion here with great balance, good acids and a fine tannic structure that leads into a very long finish
