Sunday, October 17, 2021 - This is a really pure, herbal, floral and mineral sangiovese, really showing an elegant side of Montalcino. The fruit is mostly cherry and plum with a bit of orange zest, the herbs somewhere between thyme and sage, florality is violet and lavender. It has got this real cooling feel to it, stony minerality, and a silkiness but with a bite of tannins in the end. Real lightness to it, light in color as well. Takes a bit of air very well, definitely benefitting from a short decant. Day two the tannins seems more obvious and it takes on a more muted nebbiolo character.

First try of this producer and quite convincing.

10/19/2021 12:47:00 AM - Thanks for a great note. I tried it just after release and I seemed a bit disjointed and needing time to settle. Seems like it's on the right path. Just to be sure, I am guessing you mean a more muted Sangiovese character or does it actually taste like a Piedmontese wine to you?

10/19/2021 1:36:00 AM - Thanks for the comment and appreciation! I see why you are asking what I mean, I could have explained better - day one it is full on sangiovese in purezza but day two it had becomes more muted cherry, roses and more tannic. It then seemed more like a muted Nebbiolo to me, like a simple Langhe. But this comparison probably comes to my mind because I drink so much more Nebbiolo than Sangio, it could probably be seen just as much as a typically muted/oxidated sangio.
