Gorgeous nose of roses, cherry and raspberry notes, lean, but very elegant, the rather high acidity and the slight bitterness in the finish make the wine very refreshing. Even better on day 2, 92+.

The 2018 Rosso di Montalcino starts out nuanced, with hints of rose, bright cherry and cedar, yet time in the glass brings forward a deeper mix of autumnal spice, tangerine and plum. There's an inner sweetness here that travels directly from the palate to the pleasure centers of the core, contrasted by stimulating acidity, with vivid strawberry complemented by mint and clove. While potent and prominent, this never loses its lifted, airy persona, like a trick of the mind, as it tapers off long with sweet tannins and hints of tobacco. There's no rush to open your bottles, but at the same time, with air, the 2018 is currently drop-dead-gorgeous. How much better can the Brunello be?

This is a really pure, herbal, floral and mineral sangiovese, really showing an elegant side of Montalcino. The fruit is mostly cherry and plum with a bit of orange zest, the herbs somewhere between thyme and sage, florality is violet and lavender. It has got this real cooling feel to it, stony minerality, and a silkiness but with a bite of tannins in the end. Real lightness to it, light in color as well. Takes a bit of air very well, definitely benefitting from a short decant. Day two the tannins seems more obvious and it takes on a more muted nebbiolo character.
