Friday, November 20, 2020 - Root Day - from screwcap finished bottle - pours dark lemon. Nose of Golden Delicious apple, lemon zest and juice, white flowers, peach and mango and (before swirling) some baby diaper which disappeared after swirling. On the palate it’s got pretty terrific zip and acidity to balance the rich, ripe melon, apple and white peach flavours. The acidity and the apple notes continue (with a back palate of pineapple) into the long finish. This is really good! There is a touch of oxidative flavours on both the palate and finish but that doesn’t detract (for me) from the whole. Enjoying in a Riedel Chardonnay glass at a cool room temperature with salmon in puff pastry - works!
