Flower/Leaf Day - straight from cellar (screwcap). Pours shimmering dark lemon into the glass. Nose of white wild flowers, lemon, minerals, apple and pear. Extremely pleasant nose. On the palate it’s rich, round and full of ripe apple, pear, lemon custard and candied lemon peel. Stunning! The texture is amazing - not oily but has richness and is round and mouth filling. The finish is long with a beautiful fruit and spice twist to it. This is up there with some of the best white wines I’ve had in the last few years.

Fruit Day - used for cooking and placed in fridge. Today (Feb 22) it’s absolutely delicious! Honeyed with toasted toffee and caramel notes along with spice and citrus. Almost like a developed Bordeaux. This has been an amazing wine right from purchase in all it’s different facets as it developed.

Root Day - from screwcap finished bottle - pours dark lemon. Nose of Golden Delicious apple, lemon zest and juice, white flowers, peach and mango and (before swirling) some baby diaper which disappeared after swirling. On the palate it’s got pretty terrific zip and acidity to balance the rich, ripe melon, apple and white peach flavours. The acidity and the apple notes continue (with a back palate of pineapple) into the long finish. This is really good! There is a touch of oxidative flavours on both the palate and finish but that doesn’t detract (for me) from the whole. Enjoying in a Riedel Chardonnay glass at a cool room temperature with salmon in puff pastry - works!

Clear lemon core, medium plus nose of stone fruit, mineral and citrus. On the palate aging has done this a great service; it is now showing depth and a touch of oiliness. Beautiful on the palate with minerals, peach pit and white peach with some nuttiness as well due to development. The finish is medium in length with the stone fruit and citrus/mineral continuing
