Saturday, September 24, 2016 - Well I'm glad I have another one of these bottles, didn't know that until I opened CellerTracker to record this tasting note. Bought this in 2009 for $39 at the NH State Liquor store and now consider this a bargain. The time in the bottle served it well. It has been a while since I had a decent claret so this bottle was a treat. Opened it at 4pm and decanted and stole a bit for a taste and it was very tannic. Started serious drinking of this as dinner was being prepared a couple hours later and wow the decant did the trick.
What impressed me the most about this wine was the nose as it showed that classic parfum de Margaux. I wish I could bottle the scent to capture that essence of fine Bordeaux. This wine is in a nice drinking window and it feels like it can go 5-10 years at this stage and it matches well with a grilled steak. Cheers!
