Saturday, June 6, 2020 - Decanted to remove sediment, and to allow the wine to open. This bottle was purchased at auction (for $55 all-in) within the last 2 years. The cork was very slightly depressed, easily withdrawn, and wet to just under 1cm.
Initial = on the nose there were only light whiffs of red fruit. The palate showed light red fruits that were overwhelmed by acidity.
At 1 hr. & at 2 hrs. = increasing fruit on the nose and palate, but not ready yet.
Began drinking at 3 1/2 hours = red fruits on the (not very exuberant) nose. More red fruits, some spice, balancing acidity, and just a touch of noticeable tannin on the medium bodied palate.
Certainly a satisfying wine, but not nearly as much as the two bottles of 2004 enjoyed in late 2015/early 2016. This wine could hold for ?? years, but why wait.
