Saturday, March 17, 2018 - Tasted alongside the 2009 and the 2010. The cork broke. The wine was medium to dark garnet in colour and threw a notable amount of sediment. It offered dried berries, raisins, garrigue, cracked black pepper, eucalyptus and smoke on the sweet-scented and very raisiny nose. On the palate, the wine was equally raisiny and showed dried berries, raisins, plum, garrigue, black pepper, liquorice and glycerin, with grainy, medium- to medium-plus tannin and good length. The medium-bodied wine was a little alcoholic on the end, and more developed than expected. I know that this estate is worshiped by many, but I am unable to appreciate the overripe, raisiny and alcoholic style. Drink up.
