Friday, November 17, 2023 - WhiskySomm comes into town pt. 1 (Oma's Hideaway, Portland OR): This is a complete contrast to the 98 Prum. Where that was about maturity and refinement, this is a massive puppy dog that is filled with life. The nose is extremely aromatic after about a half hour as the glass is jam packed with limes, pears, candies apples, nectarines, sweet peach, mineral tones, fresh kiwi fruits, white flowers, and sweet cherries. The Lighter bodied feel is well weighted and plush as it glides across the palate with mouthwatering, high acidity that cuts through the residual sugar while leading into an extremely lengthy finish. This is clearly a baby, but it's also insanely good right now! There is a ton to like as this brings off every bit of deliciousness that you could want in such a young riesling.
