  • Medium straw. Citrus, core of pineapple, rocks, honey, botrytis, and a hint of kerosine. Medium-to-full body, not over-sweet. Maybe 2019 is a little too hot in this vineyard. I hope we can have more vibrancy and delicacy here.

  • WhiskySomm comes into town pt. 1 (Oma's Hideaway, Portland OR): This is a complete contrast to the 98 Prum. Where that was about maturity and refinement, this is a massive puppy dog that is filled with life. The nose is extremely aromatic after about a half hour as the glass is jam packed with limes, pears, candies apples, nectarines, sweet peach, mineral tones, fresh kiwi fruits, white flowers, and sweet cherries. The Lighter bodied feel is well weighted and plush as it glides across the palate with mouthwatering, high acidity that cuts through the residual sugar while leading into an extremely lengthy finish. This is clearly a baby, but it's also insanely good right now! There is a ton to like as this brings off every bit of deliciousness that you could want in such a young riesling.

  • Sacrificed in its youth
    Laser acidity. Purity of fruit.
    Fantastic!

  • Clearly so young. Almost no nose. Much less complex, there is sweetness with a melange of tropical/citrus fruits but hard to discern exactly. Acidity from the fruit present and giving great balance. Real purity.

For me this simply felt too young to match up to the 2007 and 2017 vintage I had the same night - lacked complexity/maturity. One to hold but great potential. I'd score it 90++ if CT allowed pluses.

  • This is a fine wine. A near perfect example of a German wine with sugar left in it.
First tropical fruits in the nose, that quickly change to honey of different kinds and peach.
On the palate this is showing it's full beauty. Peach, honey, sweet, but not too sweet.
Paired it with a cheese-leek-soup. Perfect match! Finished the (half) bottle after dinner. Speaks for itself as well as it fits cream-based food.
Looking forward to have the other 5 bottles in my cellar over the next decades.
