Wednesday, April 10, 2024 - Jeff Leve’s description sounds he tasted it more or less the same way I did. The aromatics of this wine feature some hints of chocolate, expresso and sweet leaf tobacco. IE a little bit like a VERY upmarket Graves to my mind. Meanwhile, it’s medium weight only, not a big wine but extremely silky and well balanced. Fresh but ripe fruit. The finish has a lovely fresh pure core of citrus and herb inflected cassis that reminds me a little of Lafite. Pure. This isn’t going to win any prizes for size - it’s not a weighlifter, but as a very elegant iteration of a modern Margaux, it’s a delight. Delicious already; sensational in a decade plus. Lovely - if you don’t need wines that are on steroids. Sophisticated.
