Tuesday, March 8, 2022 - Decanted 30 minutes before service - no harm done, but it didn't need it, singing from the get-go. In the glass, clear ruby core with slight tinge of the auburn at the rim, but I think that's the base color in this case, not a sign of aging. On the nose, cherries, plums, and nutmeg. On the palate, a soft mouth-filling texture, with fruit balanced by baking spices and a mineral spine just shy of assertive, but it's there. I'd have to look over all of my tasting notes to confirm, but the Ryan has always been one of my favorite pinots, with aromatics, flavor profile, and texture all hitting my personal sweet spots.
