Monday, November 7, 2022 - Stood up for three months. Bottom neck. Cork in pristine condition. Decanted for two hours. A medium ruby core fading to a pale ruby outer edge. Opens up with aromas of cedar, red berries, blackcurrant, liquorice, a touch of lavender, shoe polish, and campfire smoke. The palate - while less expressive and inviting than the nose - is texturally soft and rounded. As a direct comparison to the 1995, which was outstanding this is not as sleek, polished or concentrated - and overall presents as more classical and austere as one might expect from the contrasting vintages.
