Saturday, August 11, 2007 - Craig Vanderah's Annual BBQ (Pax, Kosta Brown, Beaucastel, Donjon, Turley, Loring, Neal): Bright and shiny ruby red color with some purple hues. Offers a youthful nose of liquor-like cherry fruit and a fresh and clean style that could be Napa except for the secondary notes of earth, tobacco, and chocolate. On the palate this delivers a mouth coating splash of ripe red fruit in a bright and zingy style. Pretty well balanced, although maybe a bit strong with the acidity. Very tannic. This finish is long and satisfying. This is an excellent wine. P.S. After five hours in the decanter this tightened up considerably and searing tannin dominated/obscured the taste. It became almost undrinkable due to the tannin.
