Saturday, November 5, 2022 - Checking in on the first of these. Bottle opened at 12- decanted at 5 and served at 6:30 tasted at each stage. At first extremely tart and thin with pronounced wood on the nose so I was glad I gave this time to get up to speed. By 5pm the wood had blown off and the classic young Barolo nose of roses and tar was there and also tar red fruits and drying grippy tannins on the palate.
At 7pm it really hit its stride and filled out with a full cherry fruit in the mid palate. Towards the end the tannins grew even more pronounced.
This bottle needs plenty of air and serving to accompany rich food- it was at its most alluring when accompanying the rib eye steaks this evening. Glad I checked in and lots to enjoy as a young Barolo- definitely wait 2-3 years for the next one.
