Tuesday, December 29, 2020 - A lovely Rioja. Quite developed, but with lots of vitality. Oak is still evident, but adds complexity rather than dominating. The palate is now very impresive. Lots of power and still structured, but at the same time an almost burgundian elegance where the flavours go towards strawberries and raspberries. 2001 is a great vintage for Rioja, and I believe there is still some positive evolvement to be had here, but at the same time it is at a very nice place now, so I do not regret opening my last bottle tonight.
