Saturday, June 24, 2023 - Finally writing a tasting note after drinking a handful of bottles of this. I had bought a few bottles at the discounter and then bought a case to split with a Syrah loving friend. This was definitely in his wheelhouse, and somewhat in mine and an unbeatable price. Rusack and Ballard Canyon both have interesting stories, and the wine is quite good. Darker and more fruit forward than my usual Syrah, but restrained for the Central Coast, where most of the Syrah is completely out of my interest. (SQN, Alban, etc, don't do it for me with the overripe fruit.) This still has some meaty notes, tannins are pretty soft over all, but this is good with Indian food (lamb based dishes esp) because it's not as tannic or acidic so doesn't clash with the spice. I maybe be out of these, and it may be a one-time deal but worth keeping an eye open if the price is right.
