Sunday, May 21, 2023 - I agree with the excellent note from Exonian (April 2022) in all significant respects - from the smoky, flinty character through the rich fruits, to the structure and limited acidity (which limits its ability to match many foods). A year on from that note, I don’t detect the medicinal quality but I agree about the slightly thin character overall and the richness of the (tropical) fruit plus the buttery end. Nice on its own and, whilst I find it just a little too sweet, simple, and lacking acidity and bite (in the Californian style), there is just enough pleasure for me to rate it a bit higher. 88
This doesn’t reach the quality of the Riva Ranch Chardonnay for me (of course it less expensive than the RR) but this is still not a great bargain at UK prices.
