I agree with the excellent note from Exonian (April 2022) in all significant respects - from the smoky, flinty character through the rich fruits, to the structure and limited acidity (which limits its ability to match many foods). A year on from that note, I don’t detect the medicinal quality but I agree about the slightly thin character overall and the richness of the (tropical) fruit plus the buttery end. Nice on its own and, whilst I find it just a little too sweet, simple, and lacking acidity and bite (in the Californian style), there is just enough pleasure for me to rate it a bit higher. 88 This doesn’t reach the quality of the Riva Ranch Chardonnay for me (of course it less expensive than the RR) but this is still not a great bargain at UK prices.

Light gold in the glass, it benefits from a bit aeration to reveal the rather reticent nose. You get smokey struck match, white flowers, melon and fig, very ripe tropical fruits, vanilla oak, and a leesy quality, that creates a slightly medicinal aroma. On the palate , acidity is low, and the wine feels a little thin, with flavours of green apples, and nuts. The wine is rescued by a distinctive finish of a nutty salinity and a buttery texture. Perfectly drinkable , but not a wine I would choose to purchase again . Drink up this year and next.!

Pleasant daily drinker with some understated fruit and a lingering spice. Held up well under Coravin for a couple of months even though it was a screw cap.

Nice, pleasant nose indicating a well made chard, on the palate, wow did they hit an oak bomb! Completely out of balance with oak. Hard to imagine why they went this way. Had on the night the Biden administration decided all visitors to America by plane needed a negative corona test but were releasing undocumented aliens into southern communities without covid testing.

Nice chardonnay with nods to the old school style. Apple, melon and a nice touch of toasty oak. Well balanced and enjoyable match to fishcakes.
